Description:
This file provides analyses of whole-rock and trace-element chemistry, sample locations, and lithology of approximately 150 samples of syenitic igneous rocks collected from 1985 through 1991 by D. Kate Schalck. These analyses have not been previously published. All rock samples were prepared and analyzed at Washington State University, see: https://environment.wsu.edu/facilities/geoanalytical-lab/technical-notes/ (Retreived 2021-07-04) for details. Sample numbers followed by an "R" denotes a duplicate bead made from the same rock powder. Sample number followed by an "FR" indicates a duplicate field sample. Two publications by the Idaho Geological Survey (IGS) have additional information about the Gem stocks and the Sorrel Spring syenitic complex. A field trip guide (IGS Bulletin 28, 1989) covers a portion of the Gem Stocks and the geologic map (IGS Technical Report T-88-3, 1988) covers the Sorrel Spring syenitic complex. Original mapping was completed prior to the availability of field GPS and sample locations were determined from USGS topographic maps and converted to latitude and longitude for this study.
