July 18, 2000 SITE INSPECTION REPORT This report is broken out into three folders: (1) Project report name (2) field_forms (3) geochem_data Note: 1. All readme.txt files can be opened in Notepad or Wordpad. 2. Some of the reports will not have the folder field_forms when no data is available. There are different file types in each folder as explained below: Folder: Project report name This is the main part of the report. It was scanned and put into a file with a (.pdf) extension. The files with the (.pdf) extension can be read by acrobat reader software which is free from the web. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html Oversized sheets larger than letter size were put into (.pdf) format and are included on the appropriate page in the report. For ease of viewing the oversized figures, after entering the document, on the top task bar, click on the icon FIT TO WINDOW so each page (even oversized) will fit the window in the display. When printing the oversized sheets on a plotter, the information needed is shown on the acrobat reader bar at the bottom left. It shows zoom %, page # & sheet size. Then click on file, print, choose plotter & size of paper that will fit oversized figure shown on acobat's bottom bar & plot. When printing one page or all, including the oversized sheets, on 8-1/2 X 11 paper, click file, print, fill in page #'s and check FIT TO PAGE box. This will print all pages even oversized sheets to fit on 8-1/2 X 11 paper. Folder: field_forms The field forms are in a (.txt) or (.wp5) format which can be read and printed using Microsoft word. Do this by opening Microsoft Word, clicking file, open, and choose file type: All files (*.*). Then locate and open the folder field forms on the cd. Or Through Lotus Word Pro. Do this by opening Lotus Word Pro, clicking file, open and choose file type: All files (*.*). Then locate and open the folder field forms on the cd. NOTE: Other word processors not shown above should be able to open the field forms by a similar method. Folder: geochem_data The geochem data are in (.dbf), (.xls) or (.wpd) files. The .dbf and .xls can be opened in Excel (spreadsheet). Do this by opening the program, clicking file, open and choose file type: All files (*.*). Then locate and open the folder geochem data on the cd. Some of the columns will need to be widened to show all of the text. Or Through Lotus 1-2-3 (spreadsheet). Do this by opening the program, clicking file, open and choose file type: All files (*.*). Then locate and open the folder geochem data on the cd. NOTE: Databases such as Microsoft Access, Lotus Approach, etc. or other spreadsheet applications not shown above should be able to open the geochem data by a similar method. The .wpd files can be opened in a word processor program following the steps detailed in Folder: field_forms.
